Thanks again for all your help, sorry to be a pain, but I really do appreciate your efforts.
I will take your new directions and see what I can find, but if I remeber from what I saw last time, the 2 speed is sitting right in front of the numbers on the front of the pumpkin making them unreadable.
Worse case scenario, I may just jack up the rear end and count driveshaft revs in low and high range to get close on the ring and pinion. None of this info is dire in need, I am just curious, so don't waste any more time than you already have. Thanks again, and if I ever get out your way you have at least a bottle or case of you favorite beverage coming your way.
Ok, got to crawl around under the truck this morning, the only other numbers I could find on the axle tube were on the passenger side (like you said they would be) and there were two lines of numbers..

If you can glean any additional info, great. If not, like I stated above, don't kill yourself researching this, it is more for my curiosity than anything. Thanks again,

The windshield is the same as all 1961/66 F100/1100's and is still available from autoglass shops.
denniscarpenter.com has reproduced the headliner.
** The single digit TRANS CODE is listed first followed by a two or three digit AXLE CODE.
A is a New Process 435 4 speed manual.
There is no AF, or just F listed as an AXLE CODE for this truck.
Bill, thank you very much. The AF is followed by a 7. In addition the 3800 is followed by a 16. I was quite literally trying to read this plate by candle light. Last question... any idea as to the original paint? Again my thanks, Ian

A: New Process 435 4 Speed Manual
F7: Eaton Model 13802 Two Speed Rear Axle / 5.83-1 & 8.11-1 / 15,000 lb. Rear Axle Capacity
16: Philadelphia PA Ford District Sales Zone Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.
The COLOR code is listed between the Wheelbase (156) and the Model Code (F500).
If there is no COLOR code there, the original purchaser specified a particular color that was not standard.
Examples of this: Coca-Cola Red / Bell Telephone Green / American Airlines Dark Blue / Edison Light Green.
The 156 is followed immediately with a W. Does that mean white or is this conclusion too easy? At any rate I sincerely thank you for answering all my questions and if I now perform at my end I will send off a photo of the un-restored but working truck. Ian
I found a napco 4wd. Here is the information that I have on the truck. The guy has not had a chance to give the info off of the warranty plate yet, but he has the card that came with the truck when it was new. I don't know what numbers are codes and what numbers are not, but maybe someone on here can make some sense of it. Thanks for your help.

Here is the way he says it is listed on the card:
F60AK616XXX 0121 5
M 4 O 25L F8F L
DATE DELIVERED 12-14-64 61462 7 614627 = This could be the DSO code...or maybe not. This code will be listed on the Warranty Plate.
Any ideas?
From what you posted, I can decode the VIN, the other codes I can guess at some, decode others, some I have no clue.
F60 = F600 2WD
A = 330 2V Medium Duty FT engine
K = Kansas City Assembly Plant
616XXX = 1965, assembled November 1964 (November serial number range: 612,000 - 623,999).
0121 = ?
5 = 1965
Production date 25L = Assembled November 25, 1964 (A is January, Ford skips the letter I).
M = Wimbledon White
4 = ?
O = ?
F8F = ?
L = ?
DSO 614627:
61 = Dallas TX Ford District Sales Zone Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.
4627 = Domestic Special Order number.
The VIN states F600 2WD because it was converted by NAPCO after it was sold.
If the VIN began with F61, it would be F600 4WD, the conversion would have been done by Marmon-Herrington.
Thru at least 1979, Ford sent F600's to Marmon-Herrington (M-H) to be converted to 4WD before the trucks were shipped to the dealers.
These F600's are considered factory 4WD's even though they were converted to 4WD by M-H.
The dso is right because the truck came from Texas. It is white.
Does anyone have any pics of original napco f600's? I would think that these trucks are not seen very often. As soon as I can I will post some pics of this truck. Maybe someone can look at the pics and figure some more information out about it.
