...hoping it's cheaper than replacing the switch assy.
Don't know if it'll work, but first thing comes to my mind is getting a brush
from my collection and modifying it so it'll fit and work. A new brush from
Ace Hardware is a second choice and might still need modifying tho.
Not exactly, the horn brush is a part of the turn signal switch, and has to be replaced with the entire turn signal switch.
So if his horn brush is bad, he has to replace the entire D3TZ-13341-A (manual) or D3TZ-13341-B (Auto) turn signal switch.
There is no separate horn brush listed after 1970 for an F100/350, so it cannot be replaced by itself.
For a 1976 F100, there are three turn signal switches, not two.
D3TZ13341A .. M/T 1973/77
D3TZ13341B .. A/T 1973/77
D5TZ13341B .. Use with Cruise Control 1975/77.
Prior to 1971: The steering wheel has a hole where the separate horn brush and plastic insulator (C2OZ13A821A-sold as a kit) fits into.
The brush is about 1" long, and is composed of a copper tube connected to its base by a thin wire and a coil spring, similar to what a ball point pen uses.
This is great, too. I'm hoping it's cheaper than replacing the switch assy. Thanks for the P/Ns!
Could also be the corresponding horn contact area on the back of the steering wheel?...the circular part on the back of the steering wheel that the "horn brush" contacts?

Very true, and that would require replacing the steering wheel.
