"Mechanics special or great for parts 1987 Ford F250 6.9L Diesel, 5 speed 145K miles, great interior new tires on front ,60% on rear Needs- clutch, starter[won't start],power steering pump, heater core Make me an offer , I want this thing to leave my driveway."
Fairly low miles, engine should be pretty nice, along with the driveline behind the trans. The clutch needed may turn out to be a DMF that has self-destructed, so plan on $500+ for that. Starter is a legit problem, plan on $150-200 for a new Nippon-Denso one. PS pump can be as easy as a leaky reservoir, but even if a new one is needed they're only like $50 or so. Heater core is like $20-$25, shouldn't be too bad of a job to replace it. Basically plan on having $1000 to pour in it to make it a decent running truck, and this is without knowing how good the engine actually is... Just a heads up.
Not bad, all things considered (namely the big tires and wheels you got on the F350) it's a fairly even trade, as long as his truck ain't in bad shape. Is it smogged already, or you gotta take it through that yourself?
ya but aim good with machinacl thing like that and i can just part it out if bad and i dint give my shash of idi part away with the truck i have a good started i buy and put in the clutch this is maniy going to be dads rig hes paying for the clutch and here in cali we just buy pass the heater core
Well then, if you already got the starter, and your dad pays for the clutch, then it may be a good buy. Hell, if you're lucky you may even be able to do the "lucky" mod to the DMF, and save up all the cost of a SMF, assuming that's even bad to begin with...
Offer 500 for it, that reminds me of me getting my 88, When I got it, it had been sitting for 4 years, no start, no PS, and several other things.
Mine turned out to be the small 10gauge wire that goes to the starter had broken off, replaced it and she fired right up. I stole the PS pump off of my 87 that I am slowly parting out, put a set of GP's in her, and now she runs like a champ
I just wish mine had the rims and tranny that 87 has
But mark my word's Joe, your gonna be trading one headache for another, maybe not as big headache but still a headache.
I'm sorry Joe, but what are you saying "I can just use a programer not clim up and down add all over"
But sadly just cuz its got a computer doesn't mean you can use a programmer. You can only use a programmer if its OBDII, which on Fords didn't come out until 97
My 87 had a computer, but I couldn't get a programmer.

Yah, just one minor detail - K1500 ain't no Ford IIRC the OBDII was available in all GM vehicles in 1996, some got it even earlier.
I thought you didn't have room to keep your F350? Now you are going to have a K1500, another IDI and your 99 chevrolet you mentioned having earlier? Do you still have the Peterbilt too? Are you having to pay taxes on all these vehicles? In KY you would be broke just paying the yearly taxes on them.
