I've never seen anything like that at wally world, but then again, I tend to put my blinders on, head straight for what I need, and get out. Can you get us a part number by chance so we can look into this?
I found the Fram part numbers and other brands of the same filter.I have them at work though!
I just found that too, but so far it doesn't appear to be any cheaper online than the wix filter. I might have to pay a little more attention next time I'm in walmart.

Chris...I will e-mail you those numbers tomorrow.I have been buying fuel/oil filters from a fella in Crowley for several years now.
Yes you can use PVC. The only difference is that if you gronk the hose clamp too much the PVC might crack over time. The heat should not be an issue, but will also make the PVC more brittle over time whereas the exhaust pipe will last forever.
I spent a little more and bought a 4" piece of polished aluminum intake piping for mine when I bought my filter at my local Napa because I had to have it NOW and couldn't wait to get one shipped (when the wife gives you time to work on the truck, you get the parts and git-r-done when you can, even if you spend a few extra bucks).
Instead of using 4 inch exhaust pipe when doing this mod, can i just use PVC pipe? Is it going to make much of a difference?
No, you don't want to use PVC pipe. You need a 4" OD. You can use a 3" PVC coupler, which has a 4" OD, to make your connection. Many people here have done that. The good side is you don't have to buy a whole piece of pipe. The length of the coupler is long enough.

What he said. Trouble is, the coupler is thicker walled than 4" exhaust tubing so it chokes down the intake a bit. I have ABS couplers in there now, going to replace them sometime (soon I hope... as soon as the wife quits finding projects in the house for me to do) with 4" exhaust.
