I am not a mechanic but I need a creeper. The cardboard, tarps and shower curtains that I have been laying on are no good for my back. I would prefer one with an adjustable headrest (not required though). I have been eyeing the king crawler ones but they are pricey and not adjustable. I don't want to spend over $99. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I will probably use it at leat once per week. I like to keep an eye on the underside of my vehicles. Thanks, Ray
I got one from HF also but it had the adjustable headrest. I like it better than the 30 yr old model I was using. The wheel placement underneath made it hard to get up from with the creeper doing a wheelie. Hated that. New one is much better and was only $27.
Mine has rails alnog the sides with a gap alongside the padded center. My shirts are always dropping down and tangling in the wheels. I'll probably get one like above where the wheels are completely covered. Mine has to be ultra low profile because my Mustang is lowered and even on jackstands, it's tight to work under. One thing I like about the Bronco is not having to hardly ever jack it up.
Depend on how much willing to spend. Purchased a cheap wooden, steel caster creeper that's functional, problem I have is the shop slab is slopped quite abit and find it difficult keeping the creeper stationary, especially when torque or pressure is applied, the creeper and I are all over the place. Also, find the steel wheels and casters are a pain in the backside to manuever over concrete and slab joints. Next dream creeper will have some type of brake system; seen couple type, brake the entire creeper, or individual wheels, and also polyurethane wheels with bearings. Finally, metal rather than plastic frame, however, creepers with these options can get expensive.
Recently received Northern tool catalog and found they have a reasonably priced select. Found with the discount save a few bucks after the cost of shipping.
Here's one similar to my every day use creeper, except it doesn't have an adjustable headrest, and it's 36", not 40". And it was $25 cheaper when I bought it. It now has Snap On wheels because the originals suck. Canadian Tire
