All you have to do is look at the outlet. If it has a wastegate housing, it's a standard truck turbo. If it has a non-wastegated housing, it's a van turbo. Van turbo looks like this:

Another of the van turbo outlet, after the outlet flange for our trucks was installed:

Stock turbo housing looks like this (notice the extra outlet area for the wastegate):

Hope this helps!!

How much are they asking for the turbo its self? If you can get away with it for a good deal and get an ATS housing then your set!

Glenn,

Ron can fix you up with a 'generic' ATS compressor housing as well. Just check with him for the price. He offers it with a WG actuator, which you won't need.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's beneficial about a van turbo over a truck turbo?

The van turbo is a non-wastegated turbo with a larger compressor housing. Once you start into the go-fast stuff, it will allow you to build more boost than the stocker IIRC.

Yes it will have more lag Glenn but if you can catch tony before he mails teh chip back then you can have him throw more fuel on the bottom end. Thats what Brandon (bdrummonds) did with his Van turbo with Jody.

That refers to the fact you have an ambulance prep package (my sticker is on the pillar between the two doors) but was finished as a privately owned Super Duty and not an ambulance. You only have the 'prep' done for the no-bed chassis, but since it was not made into an ambulance, you can't go changing it into an ambulance to make a few extra bucks on the weekend. I don't know what goes into the package, but I have the dual alternator setup that goes with it.

Dang. So what did it end up selling for, out of curiosity? I had to snipe mine at the last minute, and ALMOST got it for $140, but someone else was sniping too, but didn't get past my max bid.

it was at 138.00 for a couple of days, so i finally bid on it with about 10 min. to go. My first bid was 150.00 and I was high bidder...I'm thinking this is going to be great....then less than 5 min. to go and I get out bid, so I bid 175....nope.....200 and I got high bidder again. Stayed high bidder untill <1 min. to go, then I got outbid again. I went to 225.00 and got it then last few seconds it sold for 230ish......CRAPPPPPP!!
