Local Vol. ambulance Company P0234 code
Local Volunteer Ambulance company has '09 -6.0 with very low power until warms up. Shows code P0234. FICM tests out 47.5- 48 volts.
Doing searce it looks like we have to pull turbo.
Vehicle has 54K miles and never had EGR delete.
Suggestions please?

Turbo overboost code. From my knowledge on my own truck (ex municipal work truck), these see a lot of idle hours. Exhaust soot builds up whenever there a lot of idle hours. I've never gotten a boost code but I have pulled my EGR valve & EBP sensor for inspection. Definitely signs of soot buildup. Can't imagine what the unison ring looks like in my turbo, but I'll be putting this upgraded rebuild kit in when I tear it apart for preventive maintenance. BTW an 09' with a 6.0? Just double checking...
Didn't know that the 6.0 made it past 07', but then again fleet vehicle's don't bide by the same standards as publicly sold vehicles. The dealership was dumbfounded when I asked them my paint code. It's unavailable, just blank when they pull my vin.

Thanks, folks. I am unable to work on it myself. I am scheduled to have my neck screwed back on. They are talking about taking it to a dealer, they had it to one 4 times. My A/E found this out, why could not the dealer?
I saw where these guys had an '07 ambulance with truck cab with 7.3 in it. So you never know. There was a shoot out in D.C. 65 miles from where I live and the 6.7 ambulance went into limp mode on the interstate. The perp that the police shot didn't make the ambulance swap ride to the ER. So, it pays to get the bugs out before switching to emergency vehicles.
With all that, I will push them to,do EGR delete.

My own truck had 4 new EGR valves & the cat replaced within the first 50k miles, it's easier for them to replace with new parts to get it out the door vs correctly diagnosing the root cause properly.
Dealership will hopefully pull the turbo and clean it,
wouldn't be surprised if they tried to just put a new one on. Maintenance items like that, they'd rather just bolt on a new one unless it's under warranty, then it comes out of their pocket and it surely would get cleaned then.
Doubt that they would do the egr delete. They usually aren't allowed to eliminate anything emissions parts due to possible EPA legal consequences. Bulletproof Diesel makes an upgraded EGR cooler that I've heard is pretty stout & can take the heat. Then you could get a tuner & turn it off via the tuner.
Good luck!
