Opinion on possibly buying 01 diesel van ambulance

I have a lead on an 01 van ambulance with a 7.3. I think around 180000 miles. I can get it for a good price. I currently have a 96 f250 and 01 excursion. Seems like I have read the van turbo is a nice upgrade for the OBS turbo. Plus the 96 is in the 350k miles range so be nice to have that spare engine. Current one still runs good. Wife won't be on board , but details details. LOL

The van turbo is nice for the SDs but it a lot to make it work for an OBS. the only thing about ambulances are the number of hours on the engines. Ambulances are ran hard and put up wet. I would give it a good look before making a decision. Definitely check the blow by as a wear indicator.

I really like Glenn's idea. Camper!

I have a travel trailer and the van would need body work. Maintenance on the engine should have been kept up though

Is the front accessories different on a SD van than the SD truck? Should have the dual alternator

It probably has a lot of hours of idling but I really don't know if that matters to much. I've really never heard it discussed much on here.
