Decoding newer VINs

Does anyone know the VIN sequence for the newer Ford trucks? We have a Class C mini-motorhome built on an E-450 chassis and even though it came with a 1999 owners manual, the dealer says it's a '98. Which sequence in the VIN would indicate the year of manufacture and what codes mean which years? Thanks for any assistance.

the 10th digit indicates what year the vehicle is.
W is 1998.
X is 99.
V is 97.
Since your's is an "incomplete vehicle" as it leaves Ford, it probably is a 98 chassis, but called by the RV maker a 99, because of when they finished it. Use the vin as the guiding factor as far as parts and service go.
