Crankshaft Position Sensor

I have a 99 F250 with V-10 and the manual says to remove the A/C compressor to replace the crankshaft position sensor. Does the compressor have to be completely removed; ie, lines disconnected etc. or can it just be lossened and moved to one side? I figured some of you guys have found a shortcut by now. Thanks.

Just move it to the side, should be enough room to get to the sensor. I've been under my V10 and the compressor and it's lines could be moved quite a ways.

I concur. Should be able to just loosen and shift.
If you do need to completely remove, you may need to loosen the engine mount and lift the engine an inch or so to get one of the compressor bolts out. I did.

Crank position sensor

Thanks guys, I replaced one on a buddy's motorhome which had a Chevy 454 and it was in a wide open place and that got me to thinking where was it on our V-10. Got the ole manual out and read where the compressor had to be removed and thought, WOW, lot of work for such a small sensor....! Hopefully I won't have to do that...thanks again.
