I think swapping a complete 3V engine assembly would be doable. The biggest hurdle (as mentioned earlier) is engine management. However, it would seem wiser to adapt the 3v to the older truck rather than adapting the truck. Find a throttle body that will work on the 3v or fab an adapter that will allow a TB with cable driven action.
Dunno about fuel, are they returnless? Misc sensors and coils, probably have some splicing to do.
You'd definitely have to get a custom tuned chip to adapt fuel and timing curves to the 3v head.
