Maybe 25-30 feet! if he was pulling 25-30 thousand pounds with that 300 I6, my FE would go and crawl into the nearest corner, and so would all the other v8's out there!!!!
the 300 is an amazeing motor, and will take a beating. that said, I think it is a bad idea to pull a trailer that loaded, probobly weighs 3 times that of your truck.. if you get on any steep incline, you will be going so slow, as to make your self into a traffic hazzard.when you crest the hill, you then will not have engine brakeng power, and your small truck will not have the wheel brakeng power that you are going to need. I hope no one is waiting at the red light when you get there. get an f-350, with 460, or diesel, then you have covered all the bases. we have a wrecker service, and at least once a month, we have to roll someone's rig back up on it's wheels, or wench it out of the weeds. usually the DOT gets involved, and the owner winds up with some real heafty tickets, sometimes rig even gets impounded. and the whole time you stand the chance of injury, or death, not just you, but any one unlucky enough to be in your way.... just my .02

Sounds like good advise, don't skimp out, remember it is to be a good time, not a lesson in misery!
