my abs light came on while i was on my way to pa i was towing a uhaul with a light load everything still works ok but the light stays on its a 2004 4wd screw any ideas thanks
When the light is lit up solid that means the ABS is non-function. Mostly likely cause is the VSS (vehicle speed senor). One is located on top of the rear axle (I would check this one first) and one at each of the front hubs.
thanks ford fx4 is the vss something i can check with a volt ohm meter or can you tell me what i need to look for? thanks
Not sure if you can check it or not with a volt meter, never had to replace one myself. I do know that it does have two wires coming out of it though and it is on the top side of the axle. They are not to much (25-35 dollars I believe) so picking up a new would not be to bad.
I would first try to get your truck read to see if any codes come up, that would help to trace it down.
A mechanic told me the ABS light on my Jeep could also be a torque converter sensor/prob. It has been on for 2 yrs, and it feels like the brakes work like they should when the tires start to skid. I have a piece of electical tape over the light because it bugs me, prob should go to the tranny garage some day and have them check it out.
