is it blowing smoke? does it set the CEL? is the exhaust backpressure valve sticking closed? unplug it just to check. if it has the CEL check the codes, if not is it only doing it cold or even after the engine is warm? check the HPOP res. as well. check the oil, fuel filter, and fuel pressure.. maybe try a CPS? just some stuff to check on.. hope this helps

oh yeah and unplug the chip and see what happens.. maybe unplug the map sensor and see if it changes. if it doesn't then unplug the ICP sensor and see if it changes. sounds like your running out of oil possibly though.. definitely check your oil level in the pan and the HPOP res!!!!!

oil gauge may be dropping due to extrem low rpm, can you pull codes? if not you can try the map sensor trick, but violently shaking sounds a little different. perhaps a burnt valve cover harness? but the popping from the intake sounds more like a bent pushrod, that kind of fits the basic description you gave.

codes would be a great start, then go fo rthe visual inspections

that's very strange... maybe the fuel heater could have come loose and is arcing to the side of the fuel bowl, but i'm not sure what that would do, but i do know it can come loose and short out. just dont remember what it does. if you can scan it for codes or get it scanned that would be a good start. it could have saved a code that may lead to your problem?

I would put money on the EBPV. Unplug it and wire it open.

first problem is low oil, can cause all kinds of drivability issues and an eventual no-start. the leaking line is probably a high pressure line, the cold soak is probably allowing air tin the system and the cold start is showing the air.
