Hi all,
I hear a lot about how great the TorqueShift transmission is. I was wondering... since the body style stayed the same (to my knowledge) during the move from 7.3 to 6.0, what would it take to adapt a TS tranny to a 7.3? Would it be as simple as dirveshaft length and some adapter plates? Just wondering in case I have to replace my tranny any time soon.
you would need a computer to controll your trans too. so between trans , adapter plate if you would need one and stand alone computer to controll it, just get BTS and you wont need another trans... thats my 02c
The 5R100 (TorqueShift) is computer controlled, so you'd need a controller for it, plus the adapter plate, at a minimum. If you want a "bomb-proof" tranny for your 7.3 call up Brian's Truck Shop. Under $5,000 installed and you WILL have the best tranny to go behind that engine.
You will hear this MANY times over in this forum, and if you do some research you'll find that Brian's tranny's are RENOWNED for their durability. Like, competitive sled pulls and other "lightweight" applications.... LOL.
If you've got the money, it surely can be done. But is it worth doing?
They make conversion computers now days since the Allision and TS swaps are becoming more popular it is expensive but you gain another gear. But price tag wise you'd be better of to get a 6.leaker or a BTS.
Actually I think the housing is different to so you'd have to modify that as well.
