My O/D light does that at times as well. Code scanner says it is the Transmission Range Selector malfunction. (Nuetral safety switch) However, I did have to replace my VSS and that did cure the ABS light but not the O/D light flash.
The only way to know for sure is to have the dealer pull the codes. Mine was the computer sensing a slip between 1st & 2nd so my tranny is on its way out. Others have just had a sensor.
I feel, don't buy a new sensor if you should really be saving up the money for a new tranny. Get the codes pulled and know for sure.
I hope for your sake, it is a just a sensor. Nothing worse than having to hear that the tranny is dying...
Well I got underneath the beast and the sensor on the rear end housing seemed fine but after wiggling it around the light stopped blinking. Also I did see on the front wheel that the wiring to the ABS sensor has been scrubbed half into by the rotor...I doubt that its related but maybe you guys can tell me. Also, There seems to be some confusion, can just any Auto Zone pull the codes or is this a dealer issue?
Thanks in advance!
Autozone cannot read Ford transmission codes. They can only read codes that turn on the check engine light, but not codes that make the OD light flash.
