[quote=dkf;7077593]Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see how thats possible. There is a big difference in performance between 3:73s and 4:30s. You basically putting more torque to the ground with 4:30s vs 3:73s and allowing the engine to gain rpm faster which should also increase hp at the wheels. Power numbers at the crank are untouched though. Hopefully Mike from Five Star can comment to what hes found.
+1 that's why drag racers use 4:56 and up, maybe not hp wise but time wise and torque wise for sure
Untrue. Any header will flow better than the factory log manifold.
I have shorties on mine. Good gains and it sounds much better. I lost zero low end. If anything, I gained.
I never said that a shorty header will not flow better than a stock manifold. I just have never seen one that will help low end torque which is where you get the most benefit unless you are running high RPM all the time. The design of a shorty header will almost always kill torque because there is not enough back pressure in the system. Now if you retain a stock style restricted crossover with shorty headers it may not hurt low end as much but a mid length or full length header will always out-perform a shory header for a normal application.
