I am looking at a 1996 F 150 XL, 4.9 5 sp, with ac, am/fm, new tires & polished rims, new Dia-plate tool box, rail caps, tail gate guard. Milage is 66,607, The thing is it looks like it is right from the factory but 12 years later. The gent that has it has all the records and inspection papers for it. He purchased it from the local dealer and they confirm the truck and miles. It is a bit over KBB, etc in price. He initially wanted 5999.00 but I have him down to 5000.00. My mechcanic says it looks like new engine, underboby, records, etc and if I don,t get it he will. What you all think? 5000.00 OK
Well if it really is in outstanding condition then it is probably worth what you're willing to pay. I too think something in the 4s to be reasonable, but if it's that good and you want it, just buy it and post pics so we can be jealous.....

4x2 no way at that price.
4x4 maybe but $5000 sounds a bit too much even then.
Just to throw my two cents in, the price is probably high, but do a common sense comparison to what the KBB price is and what others are selling the same at and see if it is within reason. Trucks are going to be priced fairly high becasue of what can be done with them. Of course cash speaks LOUD, but if the guy is willing to wait it out for what he wants, then you won't convince him differently. BTW, expect some percentage of markup for "profit".
