you ever get the feeling....

that maybe in a former life you were ghengis khan, because you sure are paying for it this time around ? in their infinite wisdom, the great state of hawaii has decided that all tow trucks need to be 10 lug wheels, as in f-450 and bigger i guess. and the new minimum for 'on the hook' insurance coverage is $175,000.00................and NO grandfather clause. my current $50,000.00 coverage costs me $5000.00 a year, all up front. so i guess my new coverage will cost me somewhere around $17,500.00 a year--all up front. well, that clinches it, i am officially out of business. i just talked to my former boss ( thank god she loves me ! ) and i am going back to the bar as a doorman this coming friday. anyone in the neighborhood feel free to drop by, its 1689 kapiolani blvd, club moulinrouge. just look for the 6 foot 2, 300lb, extremely unattractive dude hanging out near the doorway. ( i did it for 19 years, i can do it again. ) and, ah....anyone interested in a tow truck ?

Actually, I am thinking of taking a vacation to see the USS Missouri and the USS Arizona, so, if I get good and drunk and wander into the Moulanrouge, I will look for the dwarf by the door....

Am I the only one who notices how ridiculous that law is? Especially since many new Class-4 (F450 and Kodiak/Topkick 4500) and even some Class-5 (Kodiak/Topkick 5500) and Class-6 (Kodiak/Topkick 6500) trucks still have 8-lug wheels, granted the bolt-circle diameter is huge but the lugs are steel 8 per wheel hub. So to comply with that new law you'll need at least a Dodge 4500 or a Ford F550, no GM products allowed I guess unless you entirely skip their medium-duty line and go straight for the big stuff... That, or an older F-Superduty Ford

its not. you know how it feels when you are the sober driver when you go out with your friends? have to watch them have fun, start crap with people and it just gets you mad? well, its like that times 100. and dealing with drunk morons sucks. i used to bounce in a club in san jose, ca. all asians. what a cluster that was.

well, in one way it is fun--the challenge of 'reading' people, and seeing if i can head off trouble before it starts. dont like the "beating the sh--t out of drunks" part, thats not really a challenge-because i am not drunk, of course im going to win .i have to win, thats my job on the line ! i dont fight to impress the girls, or my friends, or because i want to prove whos c*ck is bigger. i fight because i have too, because someone FORCES me too. ( my record is something like 540-and-0...give or take a hundred either way. but they were all drunk, and thats spread out over 19 years. add that to the fact that i have never been arrested...well, you get the idea. i try to use my head before my fists, work smarter not harder ! ) plus i never start a fight. i dont like fighting, its not that i cant do it ( and do it well. ) i just PREFER not too. nobody gets hurt, no property gets damaged, no cops, no paperwork, no potential sue jobs, no torn t-shirts or bloody noses, etc....thats why i make a good bouncer. plus, i am fat and lazy so i really dont want to have to get off my stool and smack someone across the parking lot if i dont have to, hah hah...... doorman that like to fight are just a lawsuit waiting to happen to the owner of the establishment, and they usually dont last very long in the business. and by personal experience i can tell you that 99.9 % of the guys who are monsters ( like over 6 ft and over 275lbs or so ) are very mellow and very cool, its usually the runts that are starting *****. ( uhh...napoleon complex, anyone ? ) of course there are exceptions to every rule....hence the saying "shins / knees / nutz." thats about all you can do on a really big dude. anyway, looking like this , i dont get that many guys that want to take a shot at the title these days..... but i digress. on the other hand, i still look fairly young for being 39, i think. the secret is to stay fat, it keeps the skin tight so no wrinkles !!!

Did you try speaking with your local SBA office? You need to be the next repo man in Hawaii. Maybe get a show with Dog the Bounty Hunter. You nab the rig while he takes down some turd.

yepo; I tried the bouncing thing for a very very short time
only took a couple nights to figure out that at 5'6" and 165 I was gonna have to prove that I can throw a man twice my size over a car way too often

its not just the nepolean complex when someone huge tells a guy to move out he's a lot less likely to get beligerant and have to be hurt. At my size it would be a very unfun job

Sounds like you have a good head for being a bouncer. Remember Patrick Swayze said always be nice. If they call your mom a %$$#*&, always be nice, until its time, to not be nice. Then wring their neck. hehe

Sorry you had such hard luck with your truck. You sounded like you made a good go at it. Some things happen for a reason. maybe a good level headed bouncer was your calling.
