Replaced the turbo on a 97 psd manual tranny and went for a test drive. 2nd gear max at 5psi 3rd was 10 psi went home and found that I never hooked the actuator rod up when I reinstalled. I guess my question is with out that hooked up would I have low power and boost numbers like that or could I have loosened the up pipes when I was in there or caused some other damage. Thanks
You could have low boost numbers if the valve wasn't opened all the way with it unhooked. Also make sure the MAP sensor line is still intact and attached.
What would happen if the EBPV closed while you were driving down the road?
My rod wasnt hooked up and I hooked it up.
Sometimes it runs good and other times it runs awful.
Ive been suspecting its something to do with me hooking that rod back up?
the stick trucks can be tricky to get peak boost numbers on, see what the max boost is running up to the rev limiter in 4th gear, that gives the motor a long enough gear to stay under load and build pressure.
the ebp rod wont affect power when hooked up unless it is activated or stuck closed
X2 what TG and Joe said and yes a partaily closed EBPV would lower boost levels. For some reason I have a knack for knocking the MAP sensor line loose when I am under the hood. My 97 F SD will not build much boost unloaded and knocking around in the lower gears but put a load behind or a hill to climb and I have 23lbs and 1250 degrees on the pyro.
