Sup everybody, i finally got my other 2001 F250 Back they (dealer) had to put 8 injectors in and redo the heads, got it back from the dealer and the Check Engine Light stays on and the truck runs like crap, there telling me the IDM is causing the problem, flagging 5 electrical injector issues, the valve covers are new with the fix on them i just borrowed the IDM out of it to get the other truck to work for a little while and it was fine then. Now when i drive it you can feel at times where something just plugs in and off it takes, then the light is back on and is sluggish again. The strange part is everytime i go to slow down from 50 or so the light goes off then as soon as i push the pedal its back on. What is going on with this thing. IDM? PCM? Injectors? Valve Covers? Thanks!!
And what caused the need for 8 new injectors and head work?
That's what I'm wondering. There are some dealerships out there that are quick to mis-diagnose a problem. Those are the ones that are all too happy to swap out injectors when it's totally unnecessary. So any time I see a post where a dealership had to install new injectors, a red flag always pops up.
Yeah the cps was under recall, the heads came off for the constant miss in cylinder 8 when 3 injectors wouldnt fix the problem, turned out to be the injector cups on both heads failed the flow test. sucks that all of this has been done and it still dont work
Failure on #3 and #8 after the CPS recall is very common. I think you just got hosed by the dealership. It has happened before where dealerships did the CPS recall, then the truck came back with the CEL light on. The same dealerships began swapping injectors, IDM's, harnesses, PCM's, etc. All to chase down a phantom problem.
There is a TSB out from Ford that acknowledges the new recall CPS throws codes, and many people have been able to verify these issues with third party scanners.
I'm sorry to say, but it's starting to sound like you got taken for a ride.
x2 to what Curtis said... sorry bro Ford should also know that you can swap injector cups w/o pulling the head. Time to find a new dealer, or start doing your own wrenching.
Curtis- he's not saying a miss on 3 and 8, he's saying that 3 injectors didn't fix a miss in #8... thought I'd clarify. Still, the dealer flogged you hard Wesley.
i been doing alot of work on it myself, i was able to get a WDS system for it its all electrical though it got me confused, im not an expert but i can do some though, and yeah the dealer screwed me bad and whats sad is the tech was my friend but guess not now, your in south mississippi dont go to mack grubbs ford
