If your o-rings are on their way out, she should smoke at idle or maybe even have a miss. Does she bog down at high rpms?
It clears up some when warm but I know for a fact somethings wrong , just not sure what.
It smokes at a idle.
It really smokes going downhill .
It bogs down at high rpms if you ask to much of it.

Obstruction on the intake side? Plugged air intake/filter?

What about a possible blown oil seal in the turbo, allowing oil into the intake side. Usually that doesn't last long before something real bad happens, like the turbo coming apart, or the engine runs away.

Its been running this way for a while now.
So i dont think its to do with the turbo.
Im going to check the and replace the injector o-rings and torque the injectors and see if that helps anything.
Do you think it will?

I had a friend with a Dodge that "ran away".
What can you do to stop it if it starts running away?

If you have a board to block the intake, anything that can block the air. That's about the only thing you can do. Don't try to use your hands. I doubt too that it's the turbo seals, but it could be worth a try.

I saw on another site (PSN), where a guy had installed a hastings air filter and it was so restrictive that it would collapse the intake tube, cutting off the air supply at the turbo. Had a video of it.

If oil leaks into the intake of a diesel, it can run away on it's own oil. The only way to get it shut down is to cut the air. If that happens, the best way to kill it is to block the filter inlet. A board would do that. You don't want to try your hands, or it will break them and suck them into the intake.
