my f250 smokes at idle and when going downhill no throttle. when i run a fuel additive it goes away. when i stop using the additive it starts smoking again. im hoping its injectors. any ideas and by the way its a 93 f250 7.3 banks turbo with 240,000 miles
the smoke starts right at start up goes away unless im going down hill with no throttle. when i use fuel additive power service brand i think. it quits smoking. after a cuople of tanks without additive it starts smoking again
Does it instantly start smoking every time you have to sit at a traffic light or is it clear all the time other than downhill with no throttle? Smoking from a cold start is normal, the cylinder temp isn't quite high enough to completely burn everything yet. This can be exaggerated if the outside temp is cool as well.
Start cracking injector lines one at a time and letting it run for a couple minutes with the dead cylinder to see if you find one that clears up the smoke.
