I guess I must be doing something wrong then or there is something horribly wrong with my "EX" 'cuz I just got back from a 2,000 mile r/t from here in Bremerton to Stockton and averaged 10.1 pulling 9,000+ #s of travel trailer at an average speed of around 62 mph.The highest I got was 12.2 on pretty much level ground on I-5 in northern Ca with about a 20mph tailwind. The lowest was in the Siskiyous and that was up into southern Oregon with a bunch of hills and a headwind.. The rig was spending a lot of time downshifted.
I did, however get 19 the other day on the freeway on a 300 mile trip and rolled about 65 to 70 in cruise most of the time.

Yo Big Dog, I just took mine on it's first towing adventure, averaged about 13mpg after 700 miles in the Colorado Rockies and New Mexico towing 8000#s, and half the trip was in slush/snow/rain. I also get 19 highway in the mountains when I'm not towing. And mine is completely stock. Didn't downshift much, except on long moderate grades or short steep ones.
I think we're normal.
