before the turbo has a quicker reading. they're is a nice flat spot on the drivers manifold next to the oil filter with pleanty of room to drill and tap the manifold . use grease on the drill and tap to catch the metal shavings. i just put one in last week and from the advise i researched here the installation went smoothly.

According to Autometer, It should be installed 1-2 inches from the turbo outlet in the down pipe. Got the instructions here in front of me.

This sounds crazy but autometer doesn't know what is best for your engine. We watch EGT's for the sake of the pistons not the turbo. I was the probe close to the pistons not the turbo.

by other side do you mean after the turbo? If thats what your asking then no. After the turbo is a slower reaction time and will be 300 -500 degrees cooler under any given condition and its just not known exactly when you should figure 300 degrees or 500 degrees.

The manifold is the best place for the probe.

Don, here's a test I did with two pyros, post and pre for Tim. I think you'll find the results informative.

As long as you mount it in the manifold you can run it at 1250* all day long.

i think #7 tends to be the hottest which is should be real close to that flat spot on the driverside manifold.
