I have a 96 F150 that I swapped the E4OD to a ZF 5speed in.
Can I wire around the neutral saftey switch or should I get the MLPS or whatever it is and just leave it in neutral? Is it possible to wire in the clutch interlock switch to the neutral saftey switch so thet it still wont start unless the clutch is pushed down?
Anyone know which wires are for the reverse lights?
If I reinstall the MLPS will my Tcase shift into low range?I assume it will. And Im pretty sure I could splice two wires together to act as if it was in nuetral.Anyone know which two wires need to be spliced?
A detailed wiring diagram would help if someone has one.I have a Haynes manual but it is not much help.
Thanks for any help Im in the home strecth of the swap and its all in the little things.
I have this in the wiring section.Im ready to go out and start fixing the truck.Ive been reasearching for days and am having troubles.
Don't know jack about 4wd. Hopefully someone will assist soon.
Regarding Haynes wiring diagrams: I've taken the manual to a copy shop & blown up the relevant parts to 8-1/2x11, then to 11x17 size. Plus I can mark them up as needed.
I can read the diagrams but there is nothing that covers the E4OD pinout/wiring.I would like to try to tap in the reverse wiring.I may just try to get a manual wiring harness. How different are the manual wiring harness compared to the auto?Anyone know. Thanks
Here are my thoughts. The Manual Lever Position Sensor just tells the transmission what range the driver has selected. So if you can identify what two wires it uses for the rev lights you should be able to splice them to the new trans switch. Also find the neutral safety switch wires and splice them to the new switch at the clutch pedal.
Two ways you can go here I think. Go to the repair section of autozone.com and get a wiring diagram of the MLPS (also known as the Range Sensor) connections or go to the transmission page here and do a search and you may find someone has posted just what you are looking for.
Also I would not think that the MLPS would have any effect on your four wheel drive. Good luck with your project.
I have been reading for days here and other places.I cant find out what colors the wires are for the reverse lights because I cant find the pinout.Maybe Im searching the wrong terms or something. It also seems the 96 is different than other years as it is OBD2.Ide like for the swap to be as close to factory as possible.I am willing to swap the harness for a manual trans harness even though I know its alot of work. The tcase is push button so it wont go into 4low without being in nuetral.
