I swapped out my bad e4od in my 93 f150 for a good one outta 95 150 but the saftey neutral switch plug is different can I bypass this or any other options?
How do u remove the saftey n? I took the two little bolts out and that shifter arm does it just slide off ? It seems stuck I dont wanna break it. Its only plastic
The one on the `95 trans will be the updated one so I would keep it. You should be able to get an adapter plug at a parts store to enable you to connect the plugs.
Before you retighten the bolts, shift the trans to neutral and align the scribe marks on the NSS, then tighten the bolts.
Ford changed the design of the connector on the MLPS to eliminate problems with moisture/dirt/grime/etc. The inside pins are the same, it's the overall design of the connector itself. If you purchase a MLPS through Ford/Motorcraft it usually comes with the new connector that plugs into it. It has an instruction sheet for how to push out the pins on your old MLPS plug and install them in the new one. I do not know if any of the below plugs have that included.
To get the NSS off you have to remove the manual shift lever. On newer transmissions there is a nut on the outside that you can remove and then slide the NSS off.
On older transmissions you have to drop the pan and remove the nut from inside the case and slide the shaft out with the manual shift lever.
Can I put my 93 nss on the 95 trans without removing the lever from inside the trans? I have no problem removing that lever from the old tranny just hope I dont have to on my new trans to install it
Unfortunately if there is no nut on the outside of the shift shaft then you will have to drop the pan and remove the nut on the inside of the shaft. The manual lever and shaft will then slide outwards and the NSS can then be removed. The shift detent lever and parking pawl lever are on the shaft on the inside of the case so note how they are positioned before withdrawing the shift shaft. Fit the new NSS and slide the shaft back in, refit the linkages and tighten the nut.
