I want a syatem that is pre bent and comes out behind the wheels but I cant find one anyone, JC whitney has close to what I want but its pipe come out in front of the wheels. I dont knwo abotu the hooker headers exaust kit.. for you guys who got headers with true dual exaust did you get the pipeing custom bent or did you buy yours already bent from some kind of exaust dealer.. help I really hate my exaust now and im just waitng to find new pipes,, also my stpe brother is really urging me to get cats I dont want em I knwo its illegal but he says it will bo WAY TO loud, from what you guys say it will be loud but not as much as hes sayin, whats the truth, if I go with no cats and straight pipe how loud will it be ????? thanx ya'll
Your best bet to to get the pipes custom bent. But make sure u check around first to get the best price. I got mine on my 86 from the manifolds all the way back 2 1/4 piping (True dual staits) for $280. Yes it is VERY LOUD but sounds VERY nice. On a good day my friends can hear me comeing from MILES away. And i am not exagerating. It is pretty cool for me. If u live in the city i would go with some kind of glass packs cuz u dont want to wake the neihbors up every time u go by. Yes i would say it is illegal. but in one more month I will have gone one year since they were put on with no ticket.
About the catalic converts dont put them on if u want it to be able to hear it.
My F-250HD 4X4 EFI460 has Borla headers and a custom bent 3" dual exhaust system on it.The system after the headers dumps into twin 3" convertors, with twin 3" Flowmaster Series 30 mufflers, with straight cut tailpipes exiting under the rear bumper, and wearing chrome 3 1/2" Gibson tips.Even with the convertors on it,you can hear the truck from about a mile away! Best of all,it actually tests cleaner during emission testing than the O.E.M. system that was on it via the factory. Before you ditch you convertor(s) make sure about your state emission laws first.Mine are aftermarket ones.Twin stock convertors will cut down on sound a bit,but like I said, nobody I pull up behind in my truck has problems hearing it.I thought about going with Flowmaster Series 40s,but that might draw too much attention.I went with 3" diameter size only because of all the other upgrades I had done to the 460.Most shops will suggest 2 1/4",or 2 1/2" diameter size depending on your engine's size(and/or upgrades). My Bronco's EFI302 wears a 2 1/4" dual exhaust system, complete with twin convertors, and Flowmaster Series 50 mufflers. The 302 is mostly stock(including factory exhaust manifolds),but it is loud enough, and passes emissions.Good luck with planning your truck's exhaust system.
