I need some insight on my current situation. A little back ground. My truck (06 6.0 250 lar. with 19,000 even) has been in the shop for a total of 9 times, the last few are 2 rear main seals, 1 turbo, and now the bed plate....The service tech told me that there is a hair line crack that looks like it was from the original casting which will not allow for a proper seal. I talked to the service manager and he said they would be ordering a reman short block. How do the reman short blocks compare to that of a new one other than their titles? I was told that they order reman short blocks for trucks with over 12,000 miles. Can I or should i push for a new short block? Also is there anything i can do to get an extended warranty for the new fix? I have called Customer Relations but havent heard back from them yet...Last time i talked to them all that was happening was the bed plate seal was being fixed...The short block hadnt quite come into the picture. Any help is appereciated.
Thanks
Ryan
You have a 06 with only 19,000 on it? Either it hasn't been driven much or its been worked on more than it has been on the road.
There is nothing wrong with reman. blocks IMOA! I had trany trouble before and ford had a rep look at it and it had to meet a certain criteria before they could give me a new one so they rebuilt it.
If the problem has already acurd and you have it at the dealer I dont think (dont hold me to that) that ford will cover it under a extended warranty if you dont have it already.
You should still have factory on it shouln't you?
By the way welcome to FTE you can always find someone on here to answer your questions.
I dont drive it much, I bought it brand new. I work for the FD and my station is 10 minutes away from home...I mainly use it to tow my toy hauler and haul my tools when i do side jobs. The truck does have the factory 5 year warranty on it now so the work is covered. I was refereing more to getting an extended put on the new re-assembled 6.0 since i have had so many issues with her. Thanks for the info, and the welcome to FTE
