did an injector buzz test again cold and #8 dont click. i'm assuming the solenoid is stuck open?. doesnt give any codes.what do you think?. it's an 04 6.o btw.
the solenoid is shot, or stuck. you might want to pull VC off just to see if maybe just maybe the plug is loose on the injector....
hope its as easy as that.
there isnt a plug that will come loose on the injector under the valve cover really, its possible, but highly unlikely. The plug on the 6.0 injectors pertrudes through the top half of the cylinder head (an aluminum piece bolted to the ACTUAL cylinder head).......that is the only electrical connector you are going to really see a problem with. You sir most likely have a problem with the injector itself. possibly a bad pin on a connector, near the FICM maybe, but its highly unlikely.
Its not considered a Buzz test on a 6.0, its an Injector Electrical Self Test, or in other terms, a "click" test. Buzz test was used on a 7.3.......its the same principal though. You do the test with a scanner or a type of diag. equipment that is capable of it. You pretty much listen for odd sounding clicks. (if one injector is WAY too quiet compared to the others, or doesnt make a noise at all, you know you have a problem).........it will also show codes sometimes if their is a problem in the injector circuitry. It seems 99% of the time I never get codes, even if injectors are bad.
did another click test after i ran it and they all click fine???????????still smoking like crazy too.
Unplug #8 and put some dielectric grease on the connection. If it still acts up buy a new injector and O rings and follow the directions in the Tech folder.IMHO
