Electric Speedometer
Heres a good question for everyone. I am looking at installing a custom gauge set in my 78' F150 specifically Autometer. Has enyone installed for helped with installing an electric speedometer? I researched at the Autometer website and it requires the Hall effect? sensor in place of the cable but Autometer also says that you can't use one with a solid core ignition system. Is it possible to install this gauge in my truck and what the heck is a solid core ignition system.

A couple of years ago, an old member called IvanRibic put one in, and if I remember correctly, he used the drive gear out of a late 80s van. Not 100% sure of that, but you might search his name and see what you find.

Take another look at the Autometer website. They have sensors listed under the accessorie section. 5291 or 5292 are 2 numbers I found. They work with Sport Comp Gages. Says the Gages also work with factory electronics. Both those senders allow you to retain the cruise control function......Don
