DP-Tuner question...

I've got 2 7.3's, one is my personal vehicle and the other is a work truck that I seldom drive. I'd like to mod the work truck a little for improved power and mileage but, obviously, don't want to spend a fortune or give the workers the ability to mess things up, or even switch on the fly. If I wanted to have a high idle, 60 tow and 80 economy tune for that truck but didn't want to have to leave a chip in it or give them the ability to switch programs, is that possible?

I don't think I would mod a work truck when different people drive it. They might leave it in 80e and pull something heavy and not pay attention to the gauges. You would have more fun modding the truck that You drive everyday. Thank about it hard before You do.

It's something that I'm around every morning so I'd be the one that changed the tune. I don't want them to be able to change it at all, actually. I plan to put a 6637 and 4" turbo back on it and would just like to be able to tune the engine moderately so it will run more effeciantly, but like I said, I want to be the only one that can change the tunes so they don't do something stupid with it.

I've already started on my truck. 6637 went in last week, 4" turbo back going in tomorrow, CCV next, then gauges and a valve body (not sure which order there), then teh Hutch/Harpoon mod and finally a tuner. Once I do all that, I'm sure I'll figure out something else..

From what I read on here, DP don't improve fuel mileage. 6637 and 4" exhaust is not a bad idea for better air in and out, but not a tunner. To do what You want You would have to hide the switch. If You select a tune and pull the switch out it will default back to stock or no start. That is what I understand from reading on here. You can contact Jody at dptunes.com and ask them or give them a call. I don"t have one yet funds are a little low right now.

You could have Jody reflash the PCM with a moderate tune, maybe a mild tow tune with no other mods. Just call or email him with what you want. He can do it and no one but you will know.

This is what I was thinking -- 40 or 60 tow flashed into the PCM.

And from what I can tell, the tunes DO improve mileage. Best I got with my stock truck was about 17. I can get 20 now.

Just get a 60hp tow PCM flash, can't change it, don't know it's there, and its safe to pull just about anything except for some double-wides
