How many Allison transmission threads can we start in a 24hr period? Hmmm...
OK, sorry guy, but please, use the search feature. THIS THREAD was started just yesterday and I'm not retyping it all. It's a start, and searching will get you more. Happy hunting..
you would needs new adapter plate, flex pate , new trans mounts, and possible cross member, and stand alone trans controler. im sure its duable, but is it worth the cost?
get built BTS trans and forget about it......
i did look it up and not many posts so i decided to get my own feedback, also i heard and read about a cummins swap into a ford with an allison thats why i asked about a 7.3
that was a whit f350 in Diesel Power with cummins and Allison in it, but he had to do all the programming by himself, since NOONE manufactures programmers yet to do Ford/Cummins/Allison

Destroked.com carries the stand alone Allison controller, but it's $1600.
but is it worth the cost?
Then you have to buy the flexplate ($600), the adapter plate ($800), and then of course there is the transmission. The Allison is not all that mighty in stock configuration. A stock Dmax with a tuner can get the Allison to slip..... a LOT. Plan on a full build if you want to put some serious power to the ground. In all, when you include everything, you'll spend more than $8,000 to get an Allison in there (to be more realistic, probably closer to $10,000).
Or, you can get a fully built BTS for half the price, and it's a bulletproof transmission that will hold every bit as much power as any built Allison.
im doing this post for my kinda like 2nd dad, he has an 02 f350 psd crew cab long box, and hes gone through 2 clutches, and there expensive to replace so he wants to think about converting his transmission? he has a superchip 1705 and using it he cant even drive his truck anymore for the tranny just slips away, and the 1st one wasnt even the cluth but 1 clutch piece with a spring? i dont know much about automotive yet, still stuck in heavy duty mode here
is john wood a good go or what? we're way up here in northen canada so long ways away in my books...
Yes John Woods is another good builder. He is highly recommended, just like BTS. Those are probably the top two builders of the 4r100's in the country.
