backspacing question

Hey Everyone, New to the Superduty side. (Used to have an F150). I am going to pick up my brand new used 2000 F250 crew cab on Friday and am going to get my 4" suspension lift ordered, as well as my wheels/tires. I plan to buy the Eagle 589 style wheel in 16x10. I was just wondering what backspacing they should have? I don't mind if the stick out past the wheel well a little. Just didn't want them sticking out very far. Tried to do a search and came up with 4.5". Is that about where they need to be? Thanks!!!

That will stick out about 1" with a 12.5" wide tire. I have 5.03" backspacing on my 10" wide wheels with 35x12.50s and they stick out about 3/8" and clear the leaf springs by about 1". How wide of tire are you planning on getting? 10" is pretty wide for a 16" wheel in my opinion, my old wheels were 16x8 with 4.5" backspacing and they set 315/75/16s just a hair outside the fender. The same backspace on a 2" wider wheel will move the tire out 1".

The tires are 35x12.50x16's. I have always ran a 10" wide rim with that size of tire. I like the look of the wheel and I think a 12.5 tire looks better on a 10" wide rim. So 5.03" is what you recomend?

Yeah, 5-5.25" will keep it under the fender better, but you could also put flares on and be okay.

99-04 4x4s we generally recommend and use 4.5" of Back Space.

For a 13.5"+ tire I would too, but for a 12.5" on a 10" wheel there is plenty of room for 5-5.5" backspacing and it will keep them under the fender.

Maybe 5" depending on the tire....I wouldn't do a 5.5".

I just purchased a set of these wheels for my 2005 F350 4x4. They spec's are:

Size: 18x9
Offset: +10 mm
Back Spacing: 5.39

Is this the correct fitment with 37/12.5/18 tires?

With a lift yes.

05+ trucks have wider axles so they run wheels with more back space than 99-04 trucks.

Probably 6" to be safe, I can clear them with my 4" lift because of my bumper.

edit: DC you got there right before me, when I hit submit both our replies showed up. Icon lifts are great, definitely a good choice.

I've been looking at the Icon lifts on Dan's website from some time now. I was thinking about the 4.5" lift with 1" front spacer and 5" rear springs. I do plan to replace the front and rear bumpers with Alien Patrol bumpers. I don't know if this will work or not...

37/12.50 I'm guessing BFGs?

Here's an Icon 4.5" 4-link with 36.5" BFGs:

Had to trim the lower valance of the front bumper. He drives on road mainly...and a lot, no rubbing.
More off road use and they may rub.

Yes, I like that look! However, I think that I'll do the 7" lift to be on the safe side. I plan to do the bumper first, then the lift kit. I'm definitely going with Icon. Thanks Dan!
