Cranked and started it earlier, and it maxed out a 50 psi gauge, so fuel pressure is ok. Anything else to check before she gets towed?

holy crap, i missed the whole second page..... ok, 100% homemade bio, this could be a concern, i had a truck at the dealer that did nearly identical to the last description of the way it ran, the whole, idles horrible, half throttle to run thing. i know you say the fuel was clean and the filter is new but the lines could be gooed up, the 35 psi is not a good sign either. get the batteries up and check the fuel pressure again first

Its the 6637 Napa air filter and the intake tube that connects the the tube off the turbo

Its the old black one. I inspected the turbo the other day, blades were clean, no play in the shaft

we are about out of mechanical things to check, i htink you need a scanner at this point, you can check the high pressure oil pressure with a 5000 psi gauge and screw it into one of the 7 empty ports on the clyinder heads. the icp sensor has the correct thread you would need for an adapter.

I think we might have a gauge at the farm that goes that high. As far as the scanner, we have one at school that can measure live data, but I'd have to tow it there. Is it worth it to check it at school or will it have to end up in a shop eventually?

C00n has you on the right track. Check HP oil pressures.

On another note I saw you do have a chip. I had one years ago not sure of the name and it would do weird things. Definately unplug it to isolate that as a problem. I really don't think the 10Kmod will do what you are experiencing but I would remove it also.

BTW the yellow lever on the passenger side of bowl is the bowl drain valve. When you flip it, it drains all the fluid in the bowl. Good for when you get water in fuel or changing filter also when you get goo in the bowl. Just a drain valve.

Yeah i figured it was a drain for the bowl but just wanted to make sure. As far as a chip I do not have one on it now. When i bought the truck it had some sort of chip, but it was a plug in and didnt come with the truck. We installed a new PCM so its back to stock tunes now, and the chip was 30k miles ago. My highest pressure gauge is 2500, and i can get my truck towed to the nearest shop for $60, so its gettin towed tomorrow. I'll tell the mechanics what all I've done and hopefully they can locate the problem fairly quickly. Its either an electrical short somewhere or the high pressure oil system, because everything i can think of has been checked.

Sometimes its not a good Idea to tell a tech ,what you think it is not ,,I've had this happen many times where I took their word for it ,,& looked elsewhere ,only to find out the customer was wrong or missed something(ends up costing them alot more in diagnostics)..they'll know what to do if they work on powerstrokes ... Good luck ...

I wasn't going to tell them what to look for by any means, I was just going to mention what all I've tried, and what exactly it does when i try to start it. The main thing was to mention that I have a new IDM and new valve cover gasket harnesses. Is it possible for the UVC harness to burn up if its only been cranked/run for roughly 30-60 seconds?

The cover gaskets are easy to re test ,I doubt they are burned already, the IDM being new is also a plus ..Make sure to tell him the type of fuel you were running ...My guess is he'll start with cranking volts ,ICP pressure & IPR DC% ,& go from there ...
