I ordered key fobs from ebay and as long as they are the same type, they can be programmed per the instructions it came with. I believe you can use the one's from the taurus. Google the instructions and it should work.

It does on my wifes car, it is factory and it did on my Expy, also factory. Just wondering??
If your key fob will not unlock the doors with the truck running, then the stick on keypad won't do it either. The stick on keypad is basically a key fob, but you have to enter the code for it to transmit the signal to unlock the doors. The factory keypad is actually wired into the security module.

All...I am wondering. I just purchased a 99 F-250 Lariat (7.3L). No key fob. How do I check if the truck has keyless entry? The on-off x8 instruction seems to indicate how one might program a fob--what is the test for "no fob" situations? The truck has low mileage, and I'm thinking the original owner would likely have had the keyless entry, if it were an option (as opposed to standard equipment). Thank you.

Resurrecting a old thread there.

Do the program key fob steps. When you complete the 8 times on and off if you have keyless entry your power door locks with lock and then unlock. If not, no keyless.

Thanks

Firefighter ... Thanks for the clarification. Apparently, the power locks will lock/unlock after the eight on/off action, with or without a fob present.

Sorry to bump an old thread,
But after reading many threads about checking to see if a truck came with keyless entry (cycling key on/off 8x within 10secs and if equipped power locks lock/unlock.)
A question has come to mind,
Since my 99 XLT is the 7.3 PSD, will cycling the key on/off 8x potentially damage any GP equipment?
Thanks

No it will not. It's happening so fast on the cycling the probably don't even start to warm up.

Thanks!
That's what I thought but figured I might as well ask just so I know,
I think enough people have done it by now that IF there was an adverse effect it'd be a sticky lol

Okay, another dumb question;
When you say turn the key on/off 8x,
Is it;
On/off is 1
On/off 2 etc?
Or is it,
On is 1
Off is 2
On is 3
Etc?
Reason I ask this is because I used on/off as 1 but when I get to the about the 4th "set" of on/off I'm hearing my power locks pop (lock/unlock).

Working to search for some answers on another key fob issue and found this thread incomplete.

So Just to clarify, you move from the "lock" position #1, where you inserted the key, to the first position forward #2 "off."

Then you move the key starting at the "off, position #2" up to the third position, "on" position #3, 8 times back and forth, ending in the "on" position within ten seconds. The doors will then unlock and lock to conform program mode.

Within 20 secs, you then program the keyless entry by pressing 7*8 and 9*0 at the same time to re-program and again the doors will lock and unlock to confirm.

Within 20 seconds, you can now press any button on a remote to program. If more then one remote, all need to be activated within that 20 secs by, again pushing any button on that specific remote. Each time any remote is activated, the unlock/lock feature will again open/close to verify.

You then turn the key to the "off" #1 position.

You do need to program the remote keyless entry and any key fobs within those 20 secs or you will have to repeat the complete procedure.

Start at off, not on.

Would you by chance still have this kit?
