So I know that these things don't do much, but I would like to firm up the shift points in the trans to make it last longer, and any added hp/tq would be an added bargain. There are soooooo many of these dudes on the market, which one is the best? I tried a search, but found all kinds of stuff not to do, but no reviews for the various chips/programmers. I will also be putting a 4-8" lift and 35-37"s on it sometime this year, and probably some 4.56 gears. But for now would like to know if anyone has any personal experience with any of these programmers?
Oh, I just bought it for 5k, Limited 01 model, immaculate condition. Thanks guys...

Reason: forgot to put the "10" in there, lol
Most of the folks around here talk highly about Mike at 5 Star Tuning. I have had a few emails back and forth with him but haven't done anything yet. He seemed to know what he's talking about and I hear he is good to work with. I believe his website is 5startuning.com. I could be wrong about that. He is a sponsor on the V10 forum here.
After reading a lot on here the last couple of days, it does seem like he is the 'go-to guy' around here for the V10 programming. I think I will shoot him an email and see what he charges. Thanks for the reply.
Just got my SCT LiveWire today, and I couldn't be happier with it. Ordered it Saturday night online from 5-Star and got a response on Sunday and it was shipped to me on Monday.
So far I flashed my 87 Octane performance tune without the speedlimiter and slightly oversized tires. I'll run it for a tank or so and then try the economy setting for awhile. In the Spring I'll try the towing tune.
I'm still waiting for my F650 lower dash from FTE/Parts-Guy (Ed Olson) which I think shipped today, which I'm going to mount the LiveWire somewhere on the new dash panel.
The only CON's so far, which isn't a big deal is the OBD-II cable goes to the left towards the pedals instead of towards the right to under the dash. But I guess I've seen alot of them mounted on or near the door pillar/windshield mount for better driver visability. It looks like I will use velcro to mount it to the dash as the mount that comes with it is for the windshield.

Hi Steve
If you need the other mount ( check out California Mount) that mounts with 4 screws let me know. I will ship it out to you and you can just send the other one back...

sddesigns - Do you have an update on the SCT LiveWire from 5 Star? I have a 2000 F250 V10 and am starting to look around for a tuner.
I have been researching for some time and have spent the last 2 or 3 weeks exchanging emails with Mike at 5star. He has fielded all my questions and more in a very timely fashion. Go out to 5startuning.com and look at the V10 section. He has some dyno info posted there. Yes it is for a newer truck but you can clearly see the value of tuning and intake/exhaust. He also has a '99 V10 himself that he has posted some info including dyno runs in a thread in the V10 forum at the top of the list.
I just today ordered an X3 tuner and a SB intake from him for a great deal. That combo is posted on the web site as well. I also ordered the Ypipe mod and an FM70 Flowmaster muffler as well. I am going to try to figure out how to post some results as I put these on.
