I have been having a problem with my truck (99 F350 V10 5spd C/Cab longbox 4x4) for the last year and have replaced the Cam sensor, Maf sensor, Plugs, Plug boots, Feul pump, Feul filter twice, Seafoamed the engine and next on the list is a Egr valve. I have also changed the muffler (Flowmaster Series 44) and pulled the cat convertor to a resonater tube.
The aggravating thing is that I have never got a check engine light even when the truck is falling flat on it"s face.
The drivability concern that I am having is SOMETIMES the truck will feel like it is missfiring really bad and has no acceleration. Most of the time it has gobs of power and drives good. I have noticed that it doesn't seem to matter wether it is cold or warm either. When it is running like a bag my feul consumption is terrible and i will get a blueish smoke out of the tailpipe on deceleration down a longish hill (not oil) and it smells like feul.
How can I test each injector without pulling all to be tested?
Can Ford test it better with thier equipment than with my scanner?
Pulling my hair out and tired of spending money and not fixing the problem. HELP please.....
What kind of scanner do you have? can you read live data , or just pull codes? If you can read live data, what is the coolant temperature? compare the coolant temp to the ambient temperature...... what does the Baro read even though you replaced the MAF
@ sea level your baro should read approx 30.00.....sound like too much fuel , or not enough air, or not burning the fuel. Also sometimes the coils go bad. most generic scanners will only tell you yes or no for a misfire not the particular cylinder if coolant temp is ok, and baro is ok suspect faulty coilpack. I wouldn't waste my money on an egr valve I don't believe its going to solve ur problem
I swallow my pride and open my pocketbook, give the dealer $50, and let them hook it up to their diagnostic system. They have never failed to find that elusive problem which I would have spent many hours in search of.
Okay, I took my truck to Ford to get diaged and they found nothing wrong with the injectors themselves but did find two Cop's falling off. I replaced them and the truck is much better now but, I still have a missfire.
So all the injectors, cop's, o2's sensors, iat, iac, tps etc... are good. This leads me to a wiring issue. I replaced all the plugs about 10,000 kms ago and while doing so the locking clip on the injectors and cop's had been broken. The locking clip is a CRUCIAL part of the connection. Without it LOCKED into the plug they can look connected but aren't secure enough. Therefore creating a intermittent loss of connection. This loss of connection will not code up but will definatly cause a missfire. I have yet to get the broken locks replaced on the plugs but am VERY certain this is the problem after talking to the technician at Ford about it for some time. As soon as I mentioned that some of the locks had been broken he told me that was 100% of the problem.
I will keep everyone posted as to this situation, I just don't have time right now to be able to fix it. As soon as I know you'll know. Thanks
