black smoke at idle?
so my truck got a sump full of fuel, and seemed to develope a real bad knock a little while back
finaly she's home so I fill the feul filter with diesel clean and put five gallons of biodiesel in the tnearly empty front tank and idle her for a while just to see what going on a little better
1) the knocking noise seems to have faded a lot, and does not start untill the fast idle drops out
2) she still shows oil pressure though its poor at idle
3) now I'm getting puff of black smoke at an idle
4) there was some flakes of bearing material when i drained the feul outa the crankcase
5) I have a big *** exhast leak
6) truck cranks over faster than I think she would if the mains were wiped
I'm confused by the black smoke and wondering if maybe she wiped cam bearings instead of mains somehow

Black smoke would normally be a timing issue.......
Did you flush the fuel/oil out of the engine and do a complete oil change.
Did you replace the manual lift pump.........was the diaphram shot which caused the fuel in the oil problem.

sounds like a sticky governor or metering valve. Run some ATF or Diesel Kleen through her and that should clear that up.

geuss I'll get that exhust tightened up and run her hard a couple days with a tank full of bio ond cheap atf then report back worst that happens is the motor locks up tight and I go back to working up the motor in the parts truck
