Installed Tymar = EBPV noise?

Just installed my new Tymar last night, . This morning while driving to work, there is an annoying fluttering noise, that I believe is caused when the EBPV is activated. The EBPV turned on and off during my entire fifteen drive to work. With the old air box, it would turn on and off for about five minues and then no more. Is this because the air temp sensor is no longer attached inside the old airbox, giving a false reading that the engine is cold? Is the EBPV loud becuase the air box is no longer there to insulate the noise? I think the solution is to disable the EBPV. Am I correct or is there something else going on with the installation of a Tymar.

Oh yeah, the turbo sounds really good now!

Thanks

The EBPV should not close while on the throttle. And if it does you would have power loss. You can unplug it but doesnt sound like thats the problem. Unplug it and see but it sounds more like the butterfly is just flapping loosely in there or the downpipe is rubbing the firewall.

The tymar shoudn't have made any difference in that but unhook it to verfiy that the EBPV is the issue.

For what it is worth the operation of my EBPV changed significantly when I installed my 3" down pipe BUT I also changed to the 6637 filter at the same time. Basicaly it takes colder temps than it used to for it to come on for warm up at idle but at the same time it comes on at warmer temps than it used to when going down the road. Like you, I figured that it has something to due with the sensor hanging on the fender instead of being in the intake air stream. Mine is going to get an on/off switch as soon as we have some decent weather to be out working on anything.

the valve will activate while un throttle, the pcm will shut it off based on readings from the exhaust backpressure valve, basicly 1/4 throttle is your limit untill it shuts off

Thanks for the advice. Problem solved by unplugging the EBPV.

I just experienced what all you northerners are talking about with these. It got to 19 degrees the last two mornings here in FL. Man that thing was on and off for thirty minutes til the engine was warm. Had no power at all, I think max of 40 in 5th gear. Got to where I was going and it was unplugged immediately, solved that.
