Those glued onto the windshield mirror brackets FELL OFF all the time.

The glue that Ford used back then (1961/79) was an early version of two stage epoxy.

Once the mirror bracket was glued back on, according to the instructions that came with the glue, one had to wait 24 hours or so before re-attaching the mirror.

There it is. :)
They changed glue types over the years.

Mine got knocked off, but it barely took anything, and unlike today,
it didn't take a hunk of glass with it.
