removing fuel

Is it ok to use the fuel pump to remove fuel from the fuel tank?

If so, how do you remove that goofy outlet connection? Ther is about a third of a tank and i caannot get a siphn hose down the filler neck. Something is stopping it 18" in.

Of course!! The fuel pump runs the whole time the truck does. I just used a piece of fuel line on the filter drain and pumped it into a couple Geri cans.

EDIT: Welcome to FTE!!

I ran a wire from the positive battery terminal down to the fuel pump. Just pop off the cover on the positive terminal and hook up some alligator clips. It'll drain that tank in a matter of minutes.

Good point, Curtis. I didn't mean to imply that I RAN the truck when I drained the tank....

Yep. You'll hear it start to suck air. When it does, turn it off. It's okay to suck it dry, but NOT okay to keep running the pump after. The fuel keeps the pump cool.

BTW, what are you working on? In-tank mods?
