The FE forum's FAQ sez: "when asked, Ford said Ford Edsel".
It's an engine used in both the Ford and the Edsel. :)
Oh yeah, and Ford had a "MEL engine"...
Which stands for "Mercury Engine Lincoln engine" too. LOL ;)
Just because the "Edsel" was a big-*** flop doesn't mean there
weren't some cool things to come of it, like the FE engine. :)
Alvin in AZ 360FE + BorgWarner T18
ps- the "T" stands for "Thunderbolt"
(especially when you're in first gear;)

Sure they did...in 1958 when the engines were introduced.
When the FE (FORD/EDSEL) engines were introduced, there were three different ones.
The 332 & 352 were installed in Fords, the 361 was installed in Edsels.
When the Edsel didn't sell worth a hoot, two things occured.
1) The 361 engine was dropped at the end of the 1958 model run.
2) The president of the Edsel Division (James J. Nance) was fired, the Edsel Division was then folded into the L/M Division to form M-E-L.
back the the topic if all else has failed and you are still having problems with oil pressure its the oil pump that is what killed my 360 it started out like this but in the end it was the oil pump

OK i put the water pump in and it made a big differance the temp stays at 160 to 165 at idle but wen i took it 4x4in a lil bit to work the motor it got really really hot bot not quite over heatin it wantted to but its not spraying out the over flow or rad cap so im gonna get the rad redone again becuz the shop that done it the first time said it was only 75% clean but i looked in side and all the tubes were almost completely shut they clame it needs to be cleaned out with acid but with an old rad they cant use acid cuz it will make it leak cuz its old but if it wreckes it, it wrecks it i dont really have a choice i think thats my problem now, is a plugged rad if u guys have any input, input away lol thanx
Yup sound like that maybe it. Our you running a fan clutch ?? or the stock fan with the shroud ?? The tubes plug in the bottom also in the radiator an you can't see them. Heck most the time they remove the upper and bottom tank and push a rod to clear the tubes.
But maybe it time to upgrade to a larger radiator. In my 71 4x4 I'm running the biggest there was back then. Almost 26qts.total of coolant. Water will run cooler then any coolent about 10 degrees but boils at 212* coolent will go up around 245+ with 50/50 mix depending on the rad. cap psi.

Yeah that's for sure. Heck I remember as a teen when street racing we would remove the fans. As you know there only needed for city stop & go driving as I'm sure most old school racers all did back in the good ol days. I have noticed a few guys adding a fan clutch that have had over heating in stop & go driving that didn't think they need the smaller water pump drive pulley. This is why, I asked if he was running one..

normal water pump and pulley 7 blade clutch fan, but the thing is, is the PO clearly drove it in the summer so the fan and parts that are on are ok so its juss something thats plugged or blown out im leaning towards pugged juss cuz the new waterpump made a huge diff
Go to your favorite parts house and price a 76 360 Modine brand radiator. Don't worry they are the same back to 66 but the books may not have them listed.
That radiator out of the box is all that you need to run your truck.

Man if the water pump pulley is like 7" you'll be running to warm in stop & go type driving could be why the PO removed the T-stat. It should be around 6.1/4" or 6" this was the way 1967 cars/wagon models with a 390. the way my has run for the last 30 yrs of Being in my truck. 1967 oem stuff..
