UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

Well the weather has finally cooperated with some free time I have, so here's the situation.

-Cam and Crank sensors are changed
not bad, under $90 for both, the cam one is on the front of the block driver's side...NICE. The crank is under beside the a/c compressor, just undo the three bolts through acess holes and it moves out of the way pretty good.

-Checked relay above brake pedal
must be an ignition one as it does say Bosch on it, seems to check out ok.

Tom.. I can't see any behind the pulled out radio, a few things in there but does'nt look like a relay.

There is voltage at ~4.5 on the TPS leads

Now here's the fun part. Checked the front most coil on each side with an external spark test, and there is spark.
I really hope that wasn't the case before, as this time I grounded the plug on the alternator and could faintly see firing.
If I checked this wrong previously and it was ok, I truly apologize.
My time and effort is nothing, but if I have sent everyone here running in circles, I am sorry.

Tried starting and nothing.
Tried with starting fluid several times and not even a burp.

I am leaning toward the fuel pump again as Tom of TJC Transport said about his 2000, but it seems to be pumping up to the rails with pressure, is this possible.

Thanks again for all the interest shown here, I just get stubborn and become obsessed not wanting to give in to the Stealerships.

Thank you
John

My girl had a issue with her Z28 (LT1 350)

It had pressure, but no volume. The car did run but barely.

I found that there was pressure at the rail, It seemed like alot. however when it was checked with a guage, then a flow meter. Big problems. Checked the regulator, and determined it was the pump. We replaced it , and it was good to go.

But the car still fired on a gas soaked rag in the airbox, I didnt try ether, I am not a big fan of it. It does work in a pinch though

Something should happen using the fluid I would think.
Anything, hiccup, cough, sputter, but no firing of fuel af any kind.

Thanks
John

After cranking, have you pulled a plug to see if it is wet, or there is a strong smell of gas from the plug hole? That would be a way to check for fuel volume, vs pressure. Also try the inverse: floor the gas pedal during cranking to tell the PCm that the engine is flooded and see what happens.

The shop manual says that about half of the cylinders have to go dead before the engine won't run at all...so 1-2-3 bad ones means it should run. Since it died suddenly, it must be something more global than a bad coil or injector.

And The Winner Is......

Finally broke down and took it to a garage down the street (highly recommended by a neighbor, as I take a vehicle to a shop maybe once every two years)He had it for about an hour and a half and found the problem to be electrical.Seems a wire for the ignition in the bloom was broken causing a no spark situation for the coils. I know there was no spark when I checked, must have been seeing things the second time around although he said it could have caused an intermittent problem. He figured it was that as it happened so fast and died clean ( no gasping for it's last breath)I would like to truly thank everyone who who got involved in this, and appreciate all of the help, guidance, and comments that helped get me started in the right direction. Thanks again John

Thanks, Yeah sorry it was loom, I just call them wiring harnesses myself too, but thats what the expert called it.All in all it was $350 for 3.5 hrs labor and the tow there. He didn't even charge for the wire, all time. Pretty good honest guy, those are the one's that keep getting business.Plus the two sensors I initially changed were about $65.I like exhausting all possibilities before giving in. Hate to take it to a shop to find out it was something simple that I could have done myself. In this case I was tired of poking around in the winter weather so in that regards it was worth it (plus thats what he does for a living and it took him over an hour to find the problem, I'd still be there next Christmas. Having problems with the posting, it wants to bunch everything up eventhough I am spacing and paragraphing. I guess thats another forum. Thanks again all, John

the bunching up of the posts is a software problem with the forums and internet explorer.

the staff knows about it, and is trying to fix it.

At least it wasn't anything expensive, $350.oo is not a lot for a repair and a tow nowadays.
