-17 here this morning and on the 51 mile trek to work the dead diesel pickup count ( I assume gelled) was
3-Chebby Duromax
1-Dodge
2-SD style Dorfs
2-OBS Fords
What does all this mean? Nothing but lots of people aint smart enough to add some dope when the weatherman for 3 days has been saying its going to get real cold. One of them morings I was glad to have a gasser for my daily D
alot of the issue is the new fuel, apparentyl ulsd gells much easier then the old stuff. still no excuse to add additive, i would be mad if i had additives and it still gelled
-18 here with -30's WC's, no block heater in my truck and she still starts. did anyone else notice that powerservices freeze? HA! i had a bottle in my tool box and some spilled out and froze up on me.
so i just keep a full tank of fuel and only get kwik trips winter blend fuel.
I haven't seen too many trucks down this year due to geld fuel ? I usually use stanadyne additive but have not had to use it this year my fuel heater is unplugged and still no gelled fuel issues after sitting for a couple days in - cold as heck temps not plugged in.
I am not too familiar with your guys fuel in the states is there a choice between normal and winter blend at this time of year?
Here there is no choice you get what comes out of the pump and this year they seem to have gotten it right with the amount of additive .
i jelled up the first cold spell below 0 this fall and one other no start breaker for the block heater plug in tripped combined with my battery's starting to get weak. i have also noticed the bottle of powerservice i keep in the bed of the truck has to be shooken to be able to pour, i was thinking about calling them and asking them how this stuff is supose to work if the additive iteslf turns into gelatin in these kind of conditions.
I wonder if the bottles themselves collect moisture from sitting in the back of the truck year round? The PS bottles leak. They always have. Make sure you keep them upright if you keep them in the cab.
Around here you don't see too much blended fuel. There's pumps that have #1 or number #2. You simply do your own blending. Most of these places that sell a 50/50 blend is way over kill. Especially if you have tank heaters.
I read an article yesterday saying that #1 is in short supply. We've cut back production the last several years combined with a refinery fine around Christmas time has really put a strain on supply.
I cant think of anything that stinks worse than PS, it stays in the bed of my turck once opened.
its right up there with used gear oil........I have a milk carton in my tool box that holds all my PS and 2 stroke oil.......I buy the bigger jugs and fill the small ps bottle for each tank fill....it has not froze up on me yet since I have some oil mixed with it........but my fuel gelled twice this year cause I forgot to put it in...but I am running winter blend now till my 100 gal tank runs out

Where in WI, if I can ask? Yeah, we've had best performance with Kwik-Trip diesel. The station in Richland Center even sells two grades in the summer; the higher cetane (#2?) is usu. $0.05 / gal more.
It was aprx. -18F here Thursday and yesterday. We're running Rotella-T synth and plug the block heater, plus wraparound heaters on both batteries, for aprx. 2 hrs before starting it at home. But my wife (truck is her DD) has to leave it all day during the day at work unplugged, and it still starts with little hesitation.
+1 on the "who farted" smell of that PowerService. Gear oil is a spring daisy by comparison. And why the $&*%@ can't they make that bottle spill-proof? Dang, I never thought to go out and see if the stuff froze the other night, and now we're havin' a heatwave (+20F!).
