We were watching the auction Tues night and they sold what they say is a 1941 Ford truck. Steve & I don't think it is because:
- it has the narrow 40 hood ornament not the wider one,
- 40 tailgate, my understanding is that the 41 didn't come with the Ford V8 stamp - just Ford since the 6 cyl and tractor motors were also available in 41,
- it does not have the wings on the hood like our 41, and
- the glove box handle is not the same as ours.
If any of you can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it.
Hopefully this link will work. Okay, can only link to current day event. The truck is silver and was on Tuesday's event and went for $55,000 (with a 350 in it )
The thing is, once they start to modify the truck/car, originality isn't an issue for the BJ auctions. Also, for all we now the frame has a '41 s/n, and maybe it had to be titled to that particular number, ofcourse there's other possibilities too, like maybe the guy just liked those particular parts when he built the truck.
Can't really pick nits unless it's advertised as "original".
On the BJ title bar go to the 'Car Search' title bar with your cursor, click on current event listing, when that comes up change the date to 'Tuesday' and then go down to #75 of the listings for the 1941 Pickup.
Glad to see that your still hanging in there. How's the pickup coming? CU AL.
