Good catch, but I would bet that these pics are "build" pics and not representitive of what the truck looked like when it hit the auction block. One of our club members sold his 55 last year on BJ and it brought $80K...he had over $100K into it. With these vehicles the devil is in the details, from a distance it may look like any other red effie but I would offer that when inspected up close you will find some exceptional detail work.

OK, granted it's a nice truck. However, by comparrison, it is not a $48,000.00 truck. As nice as it is, it's not a show truck, it's a really nice driver. I looked at the description they had and there are things common to trucks in that price range that just weren't there. No mention of front or rear IFS, disc brakes and the like. Engine and tranny were described as recently rebuilt. There is a lot of wiggle room in that statement. As I write this there is a nicer '54 right here in my area that has been for sale for a little over 20K with more stuff and as nice a job. That thing has been up for sale for at least six months and is in the local Mobile Market weekly publication every week.
Once again it just goes to show that the people who go to that BJ auction have a lot more money than good sense. I'll bet that beer you see all of those guy sucking down is free and provided to get them loosened up and ready to bid high. I guess it's just another proof that auction fever works. Maybe th BJ is the place to go if you want a good price. A fool and his money are soon parted...

I went to BJ on Wednesday and saw the truck in a display tent. I must say the paint job was stellar and the most brilliant, flawless red that I had ever seen. I reached in my pocket but was a shy short of the $48K by about $47.99k, otherwise I would have bought it. Below are a few pictures.
The economy must be bad since there were thousands of cars on sale. I walked all day and did not scratch the surface, figuratively and literally speaking. Below are a few more outstanding works of craftsmanship:
