Im just wondering what it takes to make our 7.3's spank the newer 6.0 fords 6.7 dodges and so on.I dont have money the money to any of this but it fun to talk about, and its good info for future mods.
Cash, cash, and more cash. If you really wanna make some cheap power, put a 5.9 in. Jeremy (jtharvey) did that after he blew his engine and has been smiling ever since.
I can spank 'em stock, but if they're tuned, be prepared for seeing tailgate...... LMAO!!! I'm actually getting closer to the tuned 6.0 level, but to go beyond that is BIG $$$!! We're talking $2k-5k in turbo(s), $2-4k in injectors, another big chunk of money for short block parts/balancing, then another $4k+ on a tranny to take that power.... You could damn near by a 6.0 truck by the time you're done.
wow i didnt no that the new trucks made that much more power.almost makes me want to sell mine and get a newer one.gotta have biggest and badest lol.but ill think ill stick with my 7.3,and my 300 a month payment, insted of 500 plus a month.unless i win the lotto ha like that will happen. When i bought my truck they had a 04 f250 there with 136000k on it for the same price,i was thinking about getting it till i looked it over.oil all over the motor and bell housing, and the frame looked like you could stick a pen through it.so i went with my 01 with 87,900 on it and perfect underneith.ill take reliabillaty over power any day.
Our 7.3's live longer then any of the new diesels out there. I think the 5.9's also live forever. They were built to work hard and last long. There are a few guys with over 500k and at least two that I've read about that have over 1 million miles on the engines. At that rate, this engine should last another 30 years for me.

Good choice. You can get the power, but it will cost lots of $$$$. I will add up what I have spent on my truck later. I know my wife don't need to know. She is good with what I have spent so far. I will need a BTS before long, I think. It don't stop.
i run pretty close with a buddy of mine. He has a 04 6.0 with a superchip and his is an automatic. I can beat him to about 70 or unitl i go into 6th then he starts to pull on me. but the only way that i can beat him is when i launch in 4wd and about 22-2500 RPM
For a truck with PMRs, I can say that none of those trucks run off and leave me. They can beat me with a good tune, but it is not a spanking most times and I get a respectful nod when they see what the girl can do. Stock, I blow them all away. Yes, all of them. I usually smoke the ones with chitty mods or drivers that don't know what they are doing too. My truck is paid for.
