well, i guess i'm off to fix my door. i was out placing mowing bids and went to hop outta my truck and the door handle was extremely hard to pull. i opened it and shut it a few times, then she pops and no more open. ugh. currently i have this neat trick where i roll down my window to open the door from the outside handle. man it reminds too much of my $200 ranger pickup i had this fall haha.
I snapped the inside handle off on my 92 F250 once because it wouldn't open the door anymore... wish I could remember how I fixed it (IIRC, it involved a trip to the junkyard for a new handle/cable).
nine had always opened like a charm. get in at one account, drive to the next one, pull handle, and it felt like it all siezed up or bound up. i pulled a lil harder, she opened, shut back, opened again, tried it a couple times and snap. eh, crap happens.
Might wanna post this to the regular OBS Forum, since it's a body issue not specific to the PSD. Maybe more folks there have experienced your same problem.
i broke the handle off of mine over a year ago now, i drove for a month cause i didnt want to give the dealer 22 bucks for a peice of plastic..... got tired and bought one, the next day i broke the cable.
IIRC the handles for the 80's trucks are the same, and those are made from metal havent seen very many of them ever break. Someone might want to chime in to confirm or deny that(havent messed with one in ages).
got a brand new handle on it, got to use it 6 times, then the cable broke. i got so mad i havnt replaced the latch(cant get a cable) thats been over a year now
NAPA carries the metal handles, or they did last year, (have to ask for the metal ones) don't remember the price. The cable can be had from LMC Truck for $15 LMC Truck Parts - Page 17 (item #12). I like to use white lithium (spl) grease, it does not freeze or run.
when mine broke it was because the door latch had torn the sheet metal where it mounts to the door.I put some big washers behind it and some new bolts and its good as new. I bought my replacement handle from LMC.

I had a OBS gasser that did the same thing although I welded the washer in place becuase the handle would shift around and just tore the sheet metal more.
If the little rubber bumper falls off the handle stop it will become extremely hard to pull and feel like's it's seized up. Not sure why it makes a difference but it does. If you've already broke your handle it's too late but if your handle pulls really hard check to see that the little rubber bumper is under the handle and add a new one.
Be glad it's just the handle that breaks off. If you were driving a Dudge the whole door would have fallen off
