I have a Ramsey 8000 winch on an old Land Cruiser that I only use for plowing on my property these days and am thinking of switching it to my F250. Finding winch mounts for this year truck is tough. I found a Hidden Mount by Warn for around $200 that mounts behind and under the front bumper. Has anyone used this mount and do you think it can be altered to fit the Ramsey winch? A little extra insurance when hunting on back roads with snow up to the hood and chains on all four tires would be nice. I had my moments late this last fall hunting with my daughter. You get stuck out there in the mountains that time of year and the truck stays until the spring melt!
I remember seeing a few days ago someone selling a used classic warn winch bumper on the diesel stop. Just FYI, you must be a member and be signed in to see the classified section on that board.
I have my metal worker welding me a front 2" receiver and I do have a plate that I have the winch on currently that I can put a 2" hitch on. This is one option, but I would like to mount the winch on the truck more permanently. If I can get it tucked up and behind the bumper, it would look good and protect the winch. This way it can be there full time and I don't have to worry about it walking off if I am traveling.
Well i use a locking cross pin, so mine doesnt walk off. As far as a behind the bumper mounting system, you might be better off with bulding a custom bumper. this way you have extra protection for your truck and winch, not to mention it would look cooler, jmo.
Warn, they don't offer them anymore I found this on on ebay a while back. Have seen a couple more since, there was one from New Jersey that looked like new with winch and grill guard the sold for $800. I saved pictures of it in case I need to make the grill guard.
Yours looks like mine, i would like to have brush guard also, or maybe just build me a new one. check my album
Nice. I just finished making a air dam a couple of hours ago, it really makes it have a more finished look. I have just started making patterns to build the brush guard uprights and bought chrome headlight guards some time ago that I think will work. I can send the uprights and cross bars (or whatever you call them) over to Vegas for chroming.
Didn't think about that, the chroming, mine had a air dam under it and I took it off to mount driving lights. I don't have a winch in it but i have a hyd. 12000lb milemarker on my Jeep was thinking about putting it on, but the Ford power steering pump isn't that great to run a hyd, winch. I need some new pics of my truck.
